The World Health Organization defines health as a state of COMPLETE physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.

With the economic decline and moving from an industrial/manufacturing economy to a digital/information based economy communities like East Cleveland, Collinwood, and Glenville have been dramaticially impacted. These communities that once thrived with jobs, middle class incomes and quality education are now faced with blight, high unemployment, and challenges to education.  Despite all that has taken place we continue to see beautiful, resonant lives, families, and stories of resilience and strength. Through My Eyes (TME) is a vehicle to celebrate these stories and the hope that they birth. TME is a community event to expose future artists, educate, and celebrate the artist within students, families, residents, and community members that create community on purpose by capturing the current state of what they see and envisioning a brighter future.
